Home/Key Industries Served/Petrochemicals
Petrochemicals entails a large class of chemicals derived from petroleum and natural gas. Petrochemicals used as raw materials "feedstocks" include ethylene (highest volume), propylene, butadiene, benzene, toluene, xylene, and naphthalene. The products include polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, soaps and detergents, solvents, drugs, fertilizers, pesticides, explosives, synthetic fibers, rubbers, paints, epoxies, flooring and insulating materials, luggage, and recording disks and tapes. The inadvertent release of energy sources, including the release of toxic and flammable materials, is a key factor in virtually all threats to the safety and the operability of petrochemical processes. We understand the object of any viable safety study must be to control the inadvertent release of energy sources and to quickly minimize the effects of releases once they occur. ASC has developed a methodology to quickly identify failures that may result in the inadvertent release of an energy source. ASC offers the following specialty services:
- Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP, What-If, etc.)
- Consequence Analysis & Risk Assessment
- NSRPD Disaster Review Development
- Litigation Support
- Accident/Incident Investigation & Third-party Audits
- PSM/RMP Support
- OHSAS 18000 Program Support
- Facility Siting
While ASC can not guarantee a specific return on investment, we can help companies develop safety and environmental programs that will readily identify risk, assess loss potentials, and provide risk reduction protocols for controlling losses. Our goal is to develop program strategies specific to petrochemical operations that will manage safety and environmental issues while still being an integral part of daily operations.
